Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur, sparked widespread curiosity after appearing with a black eye during a farewell meeting with the US President. When questioned about the injury, Musk explained it was caused by a playful punch from his young son.
During the event marking Musk’s final day leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), he disclosed, "I was just horsing around with lil' X, and I said, 'go ahead punch me in the face.' And he did. Turns out even a five-year-old punching you in the face actually is..." Musk paused before adding, "I didn't really feel much at the time but I guess it bruises up."
Despite recent reports alleging Musk’s involvement in heavy drug use during the 2024 campaign trail with former President Trump, Musk’s personal explanation shifted the focus back to family humor. Trump remarked he hadn’t noticed the bruise but joked, "X could do it, if you knew X," referring to Musk’s son, X Æ A-Xii.
The young boy has made several appearances at the White House during Musk’s tenure at DOGE, once sitting on his father’s shoulders during Musk’s first Oval Office visit and even borrowing moments next to the presidential desk.
Musk further deflected attention with humor when asked about the injury’s possible origin, playfully contrasting it with a recent incident involving French President Emmanuel Macron. "I wasn’t anywhere near France," Musk said, donning a DOGE baseball cap and a T-shirt labeled "The Dogefather."
The farewell event highlighted Musk’s growing disenchantment with his government role, although he stated he would stay on as a friend and advisor. His black eye, initially a subject of speculation, was thus attributed to an innocent family moment rather than controversy.
