Gold Concealed in Semi-Liquid Form
During a routine security screening, airport officials discovered 1,059 grams of gold cleverly disguised in a semi-liquid substance and wrapped in plastic within Khemani’s belongings. The confiscation came as part of strict customs checks aimed at curbing illegal gold trafficking.
Investigation Underway
Following her arrest, Nepal police have taken Khemani into custody and launched a formal investigation to determine the full extent of the smuggling operation. Authorities have yet to disclose whether the gold was destined for resale within Nepal or intended to be transported elsewhere.
Vigilance to Combat Cross-Border Smuggling
This case highlights ongoing challenges faced by airport security in preventing smuggling of precious metals, which not only impacts economic interests but also violates customs regulations. Officials continue to stress the importance of vigilance and thorough checks at entry points.
