JD Vance Labels Elon Musk’s Assault on Trump as a ‘Huge Mistake’
US Vice President JD Vance has openly criticized Elon Musk's recent online tirade against former President Donald Trump, describing it as a “huge mistake”. Speaking in a candid interview, Vance urged for calm amidst the escalating exchange between the two influential figures who were once close allies.
Vance Seeks Reconciliation Amid Rising Tensions
Despite the verbal back-and-forth, Vance remains hopeful that Musk might eventually reconcile with Trump. He characterized Musk as an “emotional guy” who may have let frustration get the better of him. “I hope that eventually Elon comes back into the fold. Maybe that’s not possible now because he’s gone so nuclear,” Vance remarked in an interview with comedian Theo Von.
The feud has drawn significant attention: Musk accused Trump of numerous missteps including flawed tax policies and alleged secret connections to Jeffrey Epstein. Trump retaliated by labeling Musk “CRAZY” and hinted at the possibility of withdrawing federal contracts from Musk’s companies.
Attempting to De-escalate the Fallout
While acknowledging the damage to their alliance, Vance expressed confidence that “if Elon chilled out a little bit, everything would be fine.” He also dismissed Musk’s now-deleted proposal that Trump be impeached and replaced by himself as “totally insane”, asserting that “The president is doing a good job.”
Addressing the Epstein-related accusations directed at Trump, Vance firmly defended the former president. “Absolutely not. He didn’t do anything wrong with Jeffrey Epstein,” Vance stated, calling the ongoing speculation “just not helpful.”
Praising Musk Despite Discord
Far from dismissing Musk entirely, Vance lauded him as an “incredible entrepreneur”. Regarding a recent controversial spending bill that Musk labeled a “disgusting abomination,” Vance supported it, admitting it was “a good bill. It’s not a perfect bill.”
In response to criticism that lawmakers did not have adequate time to study the bill, Vance refuted such claims: “The idea that people haven’t had an opportunity to actually read it is ridiculous.”
A Candid, Unconventional Interview
The interview, which took place at a Nashville restaurant operated by Kid Rock, included moments of levity and unexpected topics. When questioned whether he had “got high” on election night, Vance replied with a laugh, “I did not get high. I did have a fair amount to drink that night.”
As the political drama unfolds, Vance’s call for temperance and mutual respect provides a rare voice urging calm between two powerful personalities.
