Missile Strike Hits Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar
Qatar has confirmed that no injuries or casualties resulted from a missile attack launched by Iran on the Al-Udeid Air Base, located southwest of Doha. The base, which hosts US and allied forces, remains a critical strategic site in the region.
Precautionary Measures Avert Casualties
Officials revealed that the base had been evacuated earlier as part of precautionary protocols amid escalating regional tensions. Thanks to these timely evacuations and Qatar’s robust air defense systems, the missiles were intercepted effectively before they could cause harm.
Qatar’s government stated: "All necessary steps were taken to ensure the safety of Qatari Armed Forces, friendly troops, and other personnel stationed at the base. We confirm no human casualties resulted from the attack."
Qatar Denounces the Strike as a Violation of Sovereignty
The missile strike, claimed by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, targeted Al-Udeid Air Base — the largest US military facility in the Middle East and home to roughly 10,000 troops. This site also serves as the forward headquarters for US Central Command (CENTCOM).
In a strong rebuke, Qatar condemned the attack as a "flagrant violation" of its sovereignty, airspace, and international law, including the United Nations Charter.
The statement further emphasized that Qatar reserves the right to respond proportionally and in full compliance with international law. "We consider this a brazen act of aggression and affirm Qatar's right to respond fittingly based on the nature and scale of the attack," it declared.
Warning: Escalation Risks Regional Instability
Qatar cautioned that such provocations risk dragging the Middle East into a wider conflict with potentially catastrophic consequences for global peace and security.
Calling for restraint, Doha urged all involved parties to cease military hostilities immediately and return to genuine diplomatic negotiations. The statement reiterated Qatar’s longstanding opposition to regional escalation, highlighting previous warnings about the dangers arising from increased Israeli military actions.
In closing, Qatar stressed, "Dialogue remains the sole path to resolving current crises and ensuring lasting security and peace for the region’s peoples."
