Inside the home, officers discovered the landlord, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, who was later pronounced dead by emergency medical personnel. The police homicide unit investigation revealed that Rainey had been served an eviction notice by the landlord prior to the shooting.

The investigation indicates that tensions escalated between Rainey and his landlord following the eviction notice. After a verbal confrontation, Rainey allegedly discharged his weapon multiple times, fatally wounding the landlord.

• Victim: Steven Lucchesi, 39, was identified posthumously by the Clark County Coroner's Office. He was the owner of a nutrition company based in Las Vegas and lived in the residence with several roommates.
• Accused: Christopher Rainey was taken into custody and charged with assault and murder with a dangerous weapon. He was held at the Clark County Detention Center and did not attend his scheduled court hearing on June 3.
