Tripura CM Manik Saha Praises Modi’s Decade-Long Leadership
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 11-year tenure, calling it India’s ‘Amrit Kaal’ — an era marked by transformative progress and bold governance.
Modi’s Global Impact and Vision for Northeast India
“With Modi at the helm, people across the world recognize that everything is possible. We have not seen a prime minister who does precisely what he promises,” Saha remarked. He credited Modi’s leadership for restoring peace in the insurgency-ridden Northeast through the signing of 11 to 12 peace accords with various militant groups, integrating thousands of former militants into mainstream society.
Highlighting the Northeast’s evolution, Saha referred to the region as Ashtalakshmi after the inclusion of Sikkim into the North Eastern Council. He emphasized Modi’s commitment: “India cannot advance unless the Northeast develops.” This focus has spearheaded ambitious development initiatives across multiple sectors.
Social Reforms and Economic Growth Under Modi’s Leadership
Over the past decade, Saha noted the government’s efforts to uplift tribal, scheduled caste, and backward class communities, citing landmark achievements such as:
- Passing the women’s reservation Bill
- Launching the Ayushman Bharat health scheme
- Abolishing triple talaq
- Enacting the Citizenship Amendment Act and the Waqf Amendment Act
He proudly shared that 25 crore people have been lifted above the poverty line during Modi’s administration. “Performance, accountability, and good governance remain the government’s core principles,” Saha asserted.
India’s Rising Global Economic Standing
Echoing international forecasts, the chief minister pointed out that organizations like the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank regard India as a bright spot and the fastest-growing major economy for 2025-26. “India is poised to be the engine of global economic growth,” he said confidently.
Security and Border Management Initiatives
Regarding recent security developments, Saha welcomed the elimination of 27 Maoists in Chhattisgarh, stating the government is close to wiping out extremist activities nationwide. He also addressed border security concerns, revealing he has urged the central government to reinforce fencing along the India-Bangladesh border for enhanced monitoring.
Addressing Local Governance and Healthcare
Responding to criticism from political ally TIPRA Motha about illegal immigration control, Saha reassured that government efforts comply with the law and are ongoing. On healthcare infrastructure, he highlighted discussions with an AIIMS delegation about the Agartala GBP Hospital, affirming that the facility is well-equipped and ready for streamlined operations.
Looking Ahead
As the nation reflects on over a decade of Modi's leadership, Tripura’s chief minister remains optimistic, emphasizing the ongoing journey toward development, peace, and prosperity in the Northeast and beyond.
