Community Rallies for Arattupuzha Coast Cleanup on World Oceans Day
On June 8, 2025, in celebration of World Oceans Day, a vibrant coastal cleanup campaign was held along the Arattupuzha shoreline. The effort was spearheaded by the Zoology department of T.K. Madhava Memorial (TKMM) College in Nangiarkulangara, drawing together a diverse group of volunteers committed to preserving the marine environment.
Leaders and Locals Join Forces
The event was officially launched by Arattupuzha grama panchayat president N. Sajeevan, symbolizing local government support for environmental stewardship. Organized under the banner of the Ocean Society of India, the cleanup attracted participation from an array of community stakeholders, fostering a collective spirit toward ocean conservation.

Participants included enthusiastic students and faculty from MUUP School in Arattupuzha, members of the Alappuzha Natural History Society, as well as representatives from Christian College, Chengannur, and MSM College, Kayamkulam. Joining them were members of the Haritha Karma Sena, local fishermen, police personnel, and community residents.
