Iran’s Firm Stand on Nuclear Program
Amid ongoing clashes with Israel, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian made it unequivocally clear that the country’s nuclear activities will not cease under any circumstances. Speaking on June 21, 2025, he emphasized Iran's readiness to engage in discussions to build trust regarding peaceful nuclear efforts but refused any reduction of nuclear operations to zero.
Defiant Message Amid Rising Tensions
In a phone conversation with the French President, Emmanuel Macron, Pezeshkian warned that Iran’s response to what it terms as continued Israeli “aggression” would be even more devastating. This statement came as the conflict between the two nations stretched into its ninth day, with military exchanges intensifying over the region’s strategic and sensitive sites.
“Our response to the continued aggression of the Zionist regime will be more devastating,” Pezeshkian asserted, underscoring Tehran’s determination not to back down despite international pressure.
Commitment to Peaceful Nuclear Rights
The Iranian president reiterated that his country’s right to pursue civilian nuclear projects is protected by international law and cannot be revoked by warfare or intimidation. “Iran has always declared its readiness to provide guarantees and build confidence in the peaceful nature of its nuclear activities within the legal framework,” he said.
This stance comes as recent diplomatic talks in Geneva failed to yield positive outcomes, although European officials remain hopeful for future negotiations. Iran's Foreign Minister expressed openness to dialogue, contingent on a cessation of hostilities and accountability for aggressors, particularly citing Israel’s ongoing attacks as a barrier to direct talks with the U.S.
Information Blackout Amid Conflict
Meanwhile, the Iranian public continues to face communication challenges. Internet access restrictions, reported by digital observatories, have deepened with a nationwide shutdown persisting for several days. This blackout complicates the flow of updates and restricts external insight into the evolving situation on the ground.
Looking Ahead
As tensions remain high, no date has been set for resuming diplomatic talks. The persistence of conflict and Iran’s unwavering stance on its nuclear program highlight a fraught path forward in a region marked by escalating hostilities.
