On Tuesday, a devastating helicopter crash in Uttarakhand claimed the lives of seven pilgrims traveling to the revered Kedarnath shrine. The Aryan Aviation helicopter was on a short journey from Guptkashi to Kedarnath Dham when it went down in a dense forest area.
Details of the Crash and Rescue Efforts
The accident occurred between Gaurikund and Sonprayag, a rugged and remote stretch in the Himalayas. Despite immediate deployment of rescue teams including police, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), all passengers aboard were found dead at the site.
Inspector General Rajiv Swaroop confirmed the crash location is difficult to access, challenging the rescue and recovery operations.
