Following a US air offensive that targeted Iranian nuclear sites over the weekend, Iran retaliated by launching 14 missiles at Al Udeid Air Base. Tehran’s missile barrage was met with robust defense measures—US officials reported that 13 missiles were intercepted, while one missile was allowed to proceed unchallenged as it posed no threat.
Explosions echoed throughout Qatar’s capital as the missile defense system activated, swiftly neutralizing the incoming threat. Although Qatar condemned the strike as a severe breach of its sovereignty and international law, it confirmed there were no casualties.

Contrary to expectations of immediate retaliation, President Trump signaled restraint in his response. Through a series of posts on his social media platform, he downplayed the Iranian missile strike as a “very weak” countermeasure and expressed hope that Iran had “gotten it all out of their system.”

Of note, Trump commended Iran for the advance warning, saying, "I want to thank Iran for giving us early notice, which made it possible for no lives to be lost, and nobody to be injured."
