Pakistani actor Hina Bayat has publicly condemned the management of Jinnah International Airport in Karachi for the complete lack of water in the washrooms, highlighting the inconvenience posed to travelers. Sharing a video on social media, Bayat voiced her disappointment, emphasizing the irony of this issue occurring on Youm-e-Takbeer, a national day marking Pakistan's nuclear tests on May 28, 1998.
"Today is Youm-e-Takbeer and I am standing at Karachi International Airport. On a day when the nation celebrates significant achievements, there is no water available in any of the washrooms here," she stated in the video. Bayat noted that this scarcity not only affects routine needs such as washing and praying but also disrupts the comfort of those traveling with children.
Many social media users supported her candid remarks, calling for immediate corrective measures from relevant authorities. Bayat further questioned the prioritization of grand infrastructure projects over fundamental public service issues, observing that while extensive developments like new trains are underway, basic amenities at essential points of international transit remain neglected.
"Why are our airports and public institutions in such condition with critical deficiencies ignored? We discuss futuristic initiatives, but forget that basic facilities like water in airport washrooms are vital," she added.
Her criticism arrives shortly after geopolitical tensions led to the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty between Pakistan and India, underscoring broader challenges in regional cooperation and resource management.
Bayat's pointed comments have sparked conversations about accountability and the urgent need for improving public infrastructure to better serve citizens and visitors alike.
