In the wake of a harrowing home invasion in Northeast Queens, a local lawmaker is encouraging residents to exercise their constitutional right to self-defense by obtaining firearms permits. The incident, involving suspects disguised as Amazon delivery workers, has sparked a renewed call for vigilance and preparedness.
Disturbing Incident Spurs Call to Action
Vickie Paladino, a Republican City Council member representing Whitestone, has spoken out following Monday’s break-in, where two masked intruders—one carrying an Amazon box, the other clad in a yellow vest—forced their way into a family home. Armed and threatening, the assailants bound the occupants, including three young children, and silenced them with duct tape before stealing cash and jewelry.
Surveillance footage captured the suspects casually walking nearby just before the intrusion, adding to concerns about the growing boldness of such crimes.
Rising Home Invasions Spark Security Concerns
While police have indicated the attacked family was specifically targeted, Paladino warns that this event fits within a worrying pattern of home invasions sweeping across her district.
"Several home invasions have struck recently, and a pattern is clearly emerging," she stated. "I've coordinated with local precincts and Queens North command to boost patrols and implement additional protective measures."
She urges residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activity promptly, stressing that community vigilance is crucial in deterring such crime.
