"One young man silently showed the world what determination looks like," Mendoza wrote on the fundraiser page. "While many graduates celebrated the night, he proudly wore his medals to his Burger King shift. He did not seek recognition; rather, his work ethic and humility touched many hearts."

The donation announcement brought Baker and his mother to tears. Speaking to 11 Alive, Mendoza expressed her gratitude for being able to assist a deserving young individual. Baker himself expressed his surprise and gratitude, explaining he had considered taking a gap year due to financial constraints but now looks forward to realizing his college dreams.
