During an official visit to the United States, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor emphasized that Pakistan will face repercussions for any terrorism-related actions. Speaking at an interactive session hosted by the Consulate General of India in New York, Tharoor made it clear that the Indian government is resolute in preventing any cross-border attacks on its citizens.
Leading an all-party delegation to the U.S., Tharoor highlighted the ongoing diplomatic efforts to counteract Pakistan’s narrative and reinforce India’s stance on terrorism, especially in light of recent incidents, including the Pahalgam terror attack. The objective of this delegation is part of a broader initiative by the Indian government to dismantle unfounded claims made by Pakistan regarding terrorism.
Tharoor elaborated on the recent military operation, Operation Sindoor, following a significant terror attack in Kashmir on April 22. He stated, “We didn’t want to start anything. We were just sending a message to terrorists. You started, we replied. If you stop, we stop.” He emphasized the need for Pakistan to reconsider its strategies, asserting that a new norm has emerged in India-Pakistan relations, where unprovoked attacks will no longer be tolerated.
“There will be a price to pay, and that price has been increasing systematically,” Tharoor remarked, underlining India’s commitment to its national security. He also reiterated India's focus on being one of the world's fastest-growing democracies, emphasizing economic development and technological advancements.
Tharoor's delegation includes several key figures from Indian politics and will be heading to Guyana following their mission in the U.S., set to return on June 3.
