On Friday, US President Donald Trump announced his intention to engage in discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping to address ongoing trade tensions between the United States and China.
Speaking from the White House alongside technology entrepreneur Elon Musk, Trump expressed optimism about resolving trade disagreements. "I’m sure that I’ll speak to President Xi, and hopefully we’ll work that out," he stated.
Earlier the same day, Trump criticized China for allegedly failing to uphold parts of a prior trade agreement with the United States. The two economic powers continue to face challenges over tariffs and trade policies, which have strained bilateral relations.
The planned dialogue signifies a potential step toward easing economic friction between the world’s two largest economies.
