In a rare and concerning incident, two female officers of the U.S. Secret Service were involved in a physical altercation outside former President Barack Obama’s Washington, D.C., residence. The confrontation occurred in the early morning hours of May 21, 2025, and was captured on video, which recently surfaced online.
The footage, shared by RealClearPolitics reporter Susan Crabtree on X, depicts two uniformed female agents pushing and punching each other while on duty approximately 3 kilometers from the White House. Audio from the video includes one agent calling for a supervisor and threatening to "whoop this girl’s a**." The reason behind the dispute remains unclear.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Secret Service confirmed the incident, stating, "The U.S. Secret Service is aware of an on-duty altercation that occurred between two Uniformed Division officers at approximately 2:30 a.m. on May 21." The spokesperson added that an internal investigation is underway and both officers have been suspended pending the outcome.
"The Secret Service maintains a strict code of conduct, and any behavior violating that code is unacceptable," the spokesperson emphasized. The identities of the officers involved have not been disclosed.
This episode adds to a series of misconduct allegations involving members of the Secret Service’s uniformed ranks in recent years. In April 2024, Michelle Herczeg, assigned to protect then-Vice President Kamala Harris, was accused of physically assaulting her supervisor after being relieved of duty. Reports indicated she had been disruptive prior to the incident.
Separately in 2024, an active-duty Secret Service agent was accused of sexually assaulting a staffer from Vice President Harris’ office in a hotel room, following intoxication. The agent was discovered unconscious in a hallway afterward.
In 2022, another Secret Service agent faced termination after violating security protocols by bringing a romantic partner into the Obamas’ Hawaii residence and suggesting inappropriate conduct inside the home.
The recent altercation raises concerns about discipline and conduct standards within the elite agency responsible for protecting U.S. leaders.
