Vizag Breaks Record with Massive Yoga Gathering
Visakhapatnam made history by hosting over 3.01 lakh participants in a yoga session, setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest gathering at a single location. This spectacular event marked the 11th International Day of Yoga and was led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
An Unprecedented Spread Along the Coast
The yoga event extended over a massive 28-kilometer stretch from RK Beach to Bhogapuram, surpassing the previous record held by Surat in 2023, which saw 1.47 lakh participants practicing yoga at the same venue.
Unity and Enthusiasm Across Communities
Thousands of participants, including political leaders, government officials, professionals, students, senior citizens, and families, took part in synchronized yoga exercises. The event was meticulously organized into 326 designated compartments, each carefully coordinated through multiple urban and rural secretariats to ensure flawless execution.
- Notably, over 11,000 Navy personnel with their families contributed to the event’s scale, alongside yoga sessions conducted on Navy ships docked nearby.

Closing a Month-Long Yogandhra Campaign
This event served as the grand finale to the month-long Yogandhra campaign, which engaged a staggering 2.17 crore people statewide, generating multiple records and widespread enthusiasm for yoga.
Official Recognition and Future Aspirations
Representatives from the Guinness Book of World Records officially presented certificates to state ministers Nara Lokesh and Satya Kumar, recognizing both this landmark gathering and a recent mass Surya Namaskar event involving over 22,000 tribal students.
Nara Lokesh expressed immense satisfaction with the event's success, viewing it as a gift to Prime Minister Modi and a testament to the unity and spirit of Andhra Pradesh’s people. He credited the extensive awareness efforts during the Yogandhra campaign for surpassing expectations and acknowledged the honor and responsibilities that come with such recognition.
