Vizianagaram Observes World Elders Abuse Awareness Day with Rally
On June 15, 2025, the Vizianagaram District Senior Citizens Welfare Association took a firm stand to raise awareness about the pressing issues faced by elderly citizens. Marking World Elders Abuse Awareness Day, a spirited rally was organized, drawing attention to the challenges confronting senior citizens in families and society at large.
Voices for Dignity and Respect
The rally commenced from the Mahatma Gandhi statue and proceeded to the Panchamukha Anjaneyaswamy temple in Vizianagaram. Leading the initiative, President R.S. Kuppu Rao and General Secretary T. Satya Murthy appealed to the government to safeguard the dignity and well-being of the elderly population.
Addressing the media, Mr. Kuppu Rao expressed deep concern over the rising cases of verbal abuse, forced isolation, and limited access to adequate healthcare services that have significantly contributed to the mental and emotional distress among senior citizens.

The event drew participation from key members of the association, including Honorary President Ch. Trinadh Prasad, Associate President B. Jagannadha Rao, and Treasurer T.V. Satyanarayana, who underscored the urgent need for increased societal support and government intervention.
