CESC Initiates Green Drive on World Environment Day
On June 6, 2025, the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) kicked off a large-scale environmental campaign in Mysuru to commemorate World Environment Day. This initiative emphasizes tree plantation and environmental conservation across multiple districts.
Sapling Distribution and Plantation Efforts
As part of the green drive, CESC distributed free saplings to over 8,000 officers and staff spread across five districts. Each individual was encouraged to plant at least two saplings to contribute towards enhancing green cover. The campaign's formal inauguration took place at the CESC colony in Kesare, Mysuru.
The sapling plantation drive was organized collaboratively by CESC, the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL), and a federation of local organizations, focusing on strengthening community involvement in environmental protection.
Leadership Highlights and Calls for Environmental Responsibility
CESC Chairman and MLA Ramesh Bandisidde Gowda addressed participants, citing the urgent need to safeguard the environment. He remarked, “Our everyday activities adversely impact the environment despite ongoing conservation efforts. Maintaining a healthy environment is essential to our own well-being,” further stressing the harmony between nature and human life, drawing inspiration from ancestral sustainable living practices.
Structured Environmental Programmes Across Offices
CESC Managing Director K.M. Munigopal Raju outlined instructions for a week-long series of environmental activities within all CESC offices. Each office is tasked with planting a minimum of five saplings to foster ongoing ecological awareness and action.
In addition to the mass distribution, over 50 mahogany saplings will be provided to staff members for planting within their respective workplaces, enhancing green spaces and promoting sustainability.
