On June 5, 2025, the Thiruvananthapuram division of Southern Railway marked World Environment Day through a series of engaging events designed to promote environmental consciousness and sustainability.

Kickoff with Pledge and Awareness Rally

The celebrations began with the administration of the #LifeMission pledge led by Manish Thaplyal, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), followed by the flag-off of an awareness rally from the DRM's office in Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram.

The rally comprised participation from various groups including railway personnel, housekeeping staff, the St. John's Ambulance Brigade, and Student Police Cadets representing Government GHSS, Pattom.

Innovative Plastic Reuse Exhibition and Cultural Presentations

At Platform No. 1, young students from New India English Medium Public School, Vembayam, and Vrindavan School of Kindergarten, Peyad, presented an exhibition focused on innovative methods to reduce plastic consumption through reuse. The DRM inaugurated this exhibition and engaged with the students to discuss their creative ideas.

Following the exhibition, a vibrant dance performance highlighting biodiversity was delivered by students from University College Thiruvananthapuram, further enhancing the day's environmental message.
