Guntur Railway Division Commemorates Dual Observances
On June 5, 2025, Guntur Railway Division observed two vital events—World Environment Day and International Level Crossing Awareness Day—through diverse awareness campaigns and community engagement activities, reinforcing its commitment to environmental sustainability and rail safety.
World Environment Day Initiatives
Divisional Railway Manager Sudeshna Sen, accompanied by officers and staff, spearheaded a pledge encouraging the adoption of eco-friendly habits and the reduction of plastic waste. A vibrant rally paired with a street play was conducted at Guntur Railway Station's platforms and concourse, effectively underscoring the adverse impacts of plastic pollution and promoting sustainable alternatives.
Complementing awareness efforts, a tree plantation drive took place at the Nallapadu freight depot. The initiative involved DRM Sen, the Additional Divisional Railway Manager, and multiple branch officers who planted saplings, advocating for similar ecological contributions throughout the division.
Focus on Level Crossing Safety
Simultaneously, the division marked International Level Crossing Awareness Day with targeted safety campaigns at key manned level crossing points. Given the rise in incidents at such crossings, railway officials collaborated with the Railway Protection Force and Road Transport authorities to enhance public understanding of safe crossing protocols.
Specific campaigns were held at:
- Level Crossing No. 3 between Guntur and Reddipalem (Inner Ring Road gate)
- Level Crossing No. 6 between Nallapadu and Bandarupalle (near Peddapalakaluru village)
- Level Crossing No. 312 between Guntur and Nallapadu
During these campaigns, commuters received guidance on critical safety measures, including adherence to signals, interpretation of warning systems, and validation of clear passage before crossing.
Commitment to Sustainable and Safe Transit
Through these combined initiatives, the Guntur Railway Division demonstrated its dedication to fostering an environmentally responsible and safety-conscious community among railway users and staff alike.
