British-American internet personality Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan Tate have been formally charged with rape, human trafficking, and actual bodily harm in the United Kingdom. The brothers, who relocated to Romania in 2016, currently face separate charges there related to rape and abuse.
According to the Crown Prosecution Service, Andrew Tate, 38, is accused of offenses involving three women, including rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking, and controlling prostitution for gain. Tristan Tate, 36, faces charges linked to one woman involving rape, human trafficking, and actual bodily harm.
The charges stem from investigations into a criminal organization allegedly responsible for luring women to Romania for sexual exploitation. The brothers were arrested in Romania in late 2022 and subsequently indicted for these crimes last year. Both men deny all allegations leveled against them.
Romanian courts have approved an extradition order, allowing the brothers to be sent to the UK following the conclusion of their legal proceedings in Romania. The charges in the UK relate to alleged offenses that occurred between 2012 and 2015, with arrest warrants issued by Bedfordshire Police.
The Tate brothers have been observed complying with Romanian court requirements, including regular appearances at a police station in Voluntari. Their precise current whereabouts remain uncertain.
This case marks the first public confirmation by British prosecutors of formal charges against the Tate brothers in the UK, despite media reports and arrest warrants issued previously.
