Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest individual, reportedly engaged in regular consumption of various drugs, including ketamine, ecstasy, and psychedelic mushrooms, during his period as a close adviser to former U.S. President Donald Trump. A recent investigation reveals that Musk’s drug use escalated significantly while serving in a key governmental role.
According to multiple sources familiar with Musk’s activities, he frequently consumed ketamine—far exceeding his public claims of infrequent use—with reports indicating daily intake that contributed to bladder complications, a known side effect of prolonged ketamine use.
Musk’s involvement in the political sphere deepened after donating $275 million to Trump’s presidential campaign and taking charge of the so-called “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE). During this time, he reportedly traveled with a daily supply of approximately 20 pills encompassing the various substances.
Despite ecstasy being classified as a Schedule I drug with no approved medical use and banned for federal employees, Musk held a special government employee status that exempted him from standard regulations applicable to typical government staff. Meanwhile, although ketamine is a Schedule III drug, its recreational use is illegal and likely contravenes federal workplace policies.
Questions remain about whether Musk was under the influence during sensitive White House meetings, given his involvement in discussions with foreign officials and influence over federal budgeting. The White House did not provide information regarding any drug testing protocols for Musk despite his access to classified information.
Additionally, insiders from SpaceX indicated that random drug tests at the company were often preceded by advance warnings to Musk, which reportedly limited their effectiveness. Musk stepped down from his government role recently after exhibiting uncharacteristic behavior, including making controversial gestures at political rallies.
